Cluster — Tool detail — The Monster Dept
01 Identity
Research you can see
Cluster is a macOS app for researching any subject. It has one primitive — the claim: something read, synthesized, embedded, and merged into a research map.
The map can be arranged by meaning, era, freshness, or sequence. It can be reconstituted as a wiki and (soon) accessed via MCP. Soon we believe Cluster will develop the new ability to organize claims into flexible outlines.
02 Key observations
Search, upload, or drag files into Cluster. The reader files claims, each one cited, embedded, and merged into a map.
A claim you reject propagates funk to its neighbours in the embedding field, so curation has a cumulative effect.
The same corpus will be a read-only MCP server — an agent getting research a human already vouched for.

04 Monsterkeeper’s notes
Conceptually, I could grasp how language takes on mathematical meaning once it’s embedded in an n-dimensional space. But I’m a visual person, so I wanted to see it happen… and I’m a controlling person, so I wanted to steer it.
All the language we encounter in the world gets distilled into small bits and filed away in small corners of our brains. Cluster does a simpler version of that on your laptop.
